There have been four recent events that have made me realize just how much this site needs to be up and running.

The first was an article I read - but I can't remember where - that said as Baby Boomers retire, there is going to be a very large gap in the IT workforce as far as knowledge goes.

This was recently reinforced to me by a repair that was sent over by a former student. (Which is the second event.) I received a laptop - and I mean a newer laptop - that had been diagnosed by a tech as having a fried motherboard. I actually discovered three things wrong with this laptop that only experience has taught me, and a fried motherboard was NOT one of them. This knowledge that I carry in my head has to be shared!

The third event, was my sisters PC. Her brand new PC attracted a VERY nasty virus that was a bugger to get out! But I did do it and I discovered quite a bit of interesting information about removing it in the process. This too needs to be shared to the public.

The final event was a message I received from one of my students that said, and I quote:

"This has been a great class. I really appreciate your teaching style and your clear way of explaining things. I've gained enough confidence to switch from my old, dial-up modem to a DSL -- I wouldn't have done that before."

That is really what it's about! Teaching people how to use technology and be comfortable with it, so that we can move forward and benefit by all it has to offer!

Since I've retired from the repairs, I've chosen to teach anyone who wants to learn from me what it is I know before I totally leave technology for good. (Although that isn't any time real soon. I love it too much!)

And that student was the encouragement I needed to put us back on track. In fact, she was the inspiration behind our new vision and mission statement! (Thanks Lorean!)
